James Watson House (currently part of the Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton) at 7 State Street, Manhattan, New York City, USA, was built in 1793. It is located at the southern tip of Manhattan Island, across from Battery Park. An apartment house on the site of the current church (built in 1964) was the family home of Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint, and is now the site of a Roman Catholic shrine in her honor.
James Watson was the first Speaker of the New York State Assembly, a Federalist member of the New York and federal senates. He was a Yale graduate and a prosperous importer-exporter. His home is a New York City Landmark.
